Hätte mal eine allgemeine Frage zu diesem Thema .

Wann legt ihr einen Drucker als 3812 an und wann als *IPDS ? Druckertyp Infoprint..
Bei diesem Problem ist der Drucker als *ipds drucker angelegt und da ist ja der Parameter MFRTYPMDL ausgeschlossen weil hosttransform auf *no steht.

Wenn das Device *IPDS ist, geht die AS/400 davon aus, dass der Drucker eben IPDS unterstützt. Hosttransform ist dann ausgeschlossen.
*SCS-Spools funktionieren dann fast immer.
3812 ist ein allgemeiner Typ, der mit Hosttransform eben alles emulieren kann.
Bei PCL4/5/6-Druckern wird dann auch *AFPDS (mit Barcode und Graustufen-Bildern) unterstützt.

Ohne eine WSCST (also Hosttransform) kann man keinen Einfluss auf Fächer nehmen, der 3812 hat im Original wohl nur 2 Fächer zzgl. Briefumschlag.

Also der Drucker ist als *IPDS angelegt und bei *scs funktioniert auch die unterschiedliche Fachangabe. Bei *Afpds halt nicht . Ist für mich total unverständlich aber deswegen ist die Iseries ja auch teilweise eine Black-Box . Also leg ich das Ganze mal als 3812 an und dann schau ich mal was passiert . Wenns funktioniert dann wärs gut aber "Warum" es dann funktioniert weiss ich dann auch nicht .

Wenn du AFPDS auf einem IPDS-Drucker ausgeben willst, benötigst du das PSF/400 (kostenpflichtig) für die AFPDS/IPDS-Umsetzung.
Fehlt das Produkt ist die Umsetzung ggf. eingeschränkt.

Ohne PSF/400 kann man AFPDS nur vernünftig mit Hosttransform ausgeben.

After the printer device description is created, vary on the printer device description using the Vary Configuration ( VRYCFG) or Work with Configuration Status ( WRKCFGSTS) command. Then, start the printer writer using the Start Printer Writer ( STRPRTWTR) or Work with Writers ( WRKWTR) command.

Hallo, also habe mal den Drucker als 3812 Hosttransform *Yes konfiguriert . Er druckt jetzt auf unterschiedlichen Fächern . Jetzt ist das Problem das die SPL vom TYP *AFPDS ist und darin ein Overlay enthalten ist . Also ein kleines Logo . Dieses wird jetzt nicht mehr mit angedruckt . Weiss jemand rat ?

Ich denke bei IPDS wird das OVL eingebettet, bei AFPDS nur verlinkt.
Sorge also dafür, dass
a) beim OVRPRTF/CHGPRTF das OVL als absoluter Pfad LIB/NAME eingetragen wird
b) das OVL in der LIBL (QUSRLIBL) bzw. der JOBD der Spoolsjobs gefunden wird

erstmal merci . Jetzt hätt ich noch eine Frage . Kann es sein das man mit *IPDS keine Logos drucken kann . Sprich der overlay Befehl erzeugt im Spool wirre Zeichen .

Doch, mit IPDS geht das auch, allerdings nur mit dem zusätzlichen Produkt PSF/400 (kostenpflichtig).
Deshalb nehme ich gerne AFPDS mit Hosttransform.

Des weiteren unterstützt IPDS nur soweit ich weiß 240 DPI, also nicht 300 oder 600.

It supports the Data Description Specification (DDS) keywords.

*AFPDS - Advanced Function Printing Data Stream. It is a more structured data stream that is divided into components called objects. It can be used for text, images, graphics, bar codes, and AFP resources like page segments, overlays, fonts, form definitions, and page definitions. It supports the Data Description Specification (DDS) keywords.
