Nun, mit entsprechender Software (Kauf oder Selbst) kann man auf Basis von SAVCHGOBJ bestimmt eine Reduzierung hinbekommen.
Wenn allerdings eine einzelne PF schon 10GB ist bekommt man das nicht unbedingt hin.

Here are some possible approaches to consider:

1. Save to a NFS backed virtual device (up to a 2TB virtual media). The setup for a network (NFS) Optical Device is located in IBM i 7.1 Information Center > Storage solutions > Virtual storage > IBM i virtual optical storage > "Virtual optical storage using the Network File System".

2. Have an application use the QaneSava and QaneRsta (Save to Application / Restore from Application) APIs. Essentially the application handles the data that would normally be sent to a *SAVF or a device (this is what TSM and/or other similar backup applications use)

3. Use TSM with BRMS (which is/was a viable alternative, but support is ending soon per the statements in the links below).
