Ich habe dann an IBM ein 'Design Change Request" gestellt

Title - Store *savf on 'Non-iSeries' Storage
IBM will use this request as input to planning but no commitment is made or implied. This request will not be updated.
Here are some possible approaches to consider:

1. Save to a NFS backed virtual device (up to a 2TB virtual media). The setup for a network (NFS) Optical Device is located in IBM i 7.1 Information Center > Storage solutions > Virtual storage > IBM i virtual optical storage > "Virtual optical storage using the Network File System".

2. Have an application use the QaneSava and QaneRsta (Save to Application / Restore from Application) APIs. Essentially the application handles the data that would normally be sent to a *SAVF or a device (this is what TSM and/or other similar backup applications use)

3. Use TSM with BRMS (which is/was a viable alternative, but support is ending soon per the statements in the links below).
